Beers of the week is something new we’re going to do on Beer O’Clock Australia to give you a bit of an insight behind the curtain. Each week I’m going to post three beers that tickled my fancy over the last week or so, whether they be the best beers or simply beers that intrigued me. Hope you enjoy the new segment!

Boatrocker Roger Ramjet (2020)

This beer should need no introduction. The 2020 version of Boatrocker’s Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout spent 10 months in Buffalo Trace barrels before being released into the wild. This years version is the smoothest I’ve tried straight out of the gate with the bourbon beautifully integrated with the chocolate & roast characters.

Deeds Best Coast Vol. 2

In the world of Hazy IPAs that we currently live in a good West Coast IPA is something of a rarity. This one is great, packing a big resinous bitterness. I’ll be picking up more if I can find any!

Green Flash Rayon Vert (2012)

Almost 8 years ago I bought a 4-pack of these – I drank 2 and put 2 away; it’s modelled on Orval afterall. Today I decided was the day to crack the first of those. Despite it being in my pre-Untappd days, I still have good notes of the first couple. It’s developed significantly; it’s a Brett bomb now, on the bubblegum end of the spectrum, but still drinks really well. It’s probably getting towards the end of its life, but I think the last bottle should push on to 10 years.

Hope you guys enjoyed the first installment of Beers of the Week. Please send any feedback to angus@beeroclockaustralia.com. Cheers!

Remember it’s always Beer O’Clock somewhere in the world!
